Hi Greg and team.
Really looking forward to how this forum evolves.
Just wondering how you have managed to get away with using the word ‘WordPress’ within your domain name without infringing on copyright or getting a slap from the guys at WordPress .com and .org .7 months, 1 week ago gnarayanKeymaster
GoDaddy sells domains like “wordpresssupport” they are just more expensive than this one was! 🙂
Glad you’re following the forum and awesome question!
Hi again Greg.
Yeah, i know that we can purchase any domain name that we want but isn’t it a copyright infringement to use a branded name that you don’t own?
Do you have permission from WordPress to use their name in your domain name or have you just taken a chance that WordPress won’t mind because you are providing support for their program?
I would be concerned about a future DMCA or Take Down request.
Greg, i was asking these questions before purchasing a domain name with the word ‘WordPress’ in it.
But i have subsequently discovered that ‘WordPress’ is a Trademark owned by the WordPress Foundation and they have strict rules that protect that trademark so i cant use the word ‘WordPress’ in a top level domain name.
For your own protection and the future of this forum please read this – http://wordpressfoundation.org/trademark-policy/
Perhaps it best to purchase the domain name thewpexperience.com and do a 301 redirect on this one.
